Strong Opening Moves In Frontline Dominion
Frontline Dominion is won in the first few turns more often than people think. Grab the terrain bonuses early and you force your opponent to attack into disadvantage for the rest of the match.
My standard opening is to secure the nearest high-ground hexes before engaging anything. Units on elevation take less damage and hit harder, so even a cheap unit holding a hill is worth more than an expensive one caught in the open.
Don't rush your whole army forward. Overextending is the single biggest mistake I see, and the AI on harder difficulties will happily flank you for it. Advance in a line, keep units supporting each other, and let the enemy come to you.
Counters matter as much as numbers. Learn the three or four key matchups and you'll stop losing units to bad trades. I keep at least one anti-armor unit in reserve for exactly this reason.
Play patiently, trade in your favour, and most maps fall into place. The campaign teaches this gradually, but knowing it from turn one saves a lot of restarts.
